Patton was considered the most famous of the five musicians that created the blues, titling him "Father of Delta Blues".  His music followed the banks of the Mississippi for a lifetime, which started a music that captured the heart, soul and sound of the land.
Patton's racial mix was white, black, Cherokee Indian.
